Choosing the wrong hair extension method in Sarasota is one of the most common and costly mistakes we help clients recover from. The method that worked for someone you follow on Instagram may be completely wrong for your hair texture, your lifestyle, or your long-term hair health goals.
At our studio, we do not recommend an extension method until we understand the full picture: your natural hair, your maintenance commitment, how often you are in the water, and what result you are actually after. The consultation exists because extensions are a relationship, not a one-time transaction.
In this guide, we are breaking down the three primary methods we offer, who each one is built for, and how we help every Sarasota client make the decision that will serve their hair best long-term.
Extensions are a significant investment in time and money. Getting the method right means your hair grows healthier underneath them, your extensions blend seamlessly, and your maintenance schedule actually fits your life. Getting it wrong means breakage, visible bonds, and a removal appointment that sets your hair back.
In Sarasota specifically, a few factors make method selection even more critical:
There is no universal best method. There is the best method for you.
K-tip extensions, also called keratin tip or fusion bond extensions, are attached using a small keratin bond that is melted and pressed flat at the root with a heat tool. The bond sits close to the scalp and moves naturally with your hair.
We use Great Lengths keratin bonded extensions for our K-tip clients. Great Lengths is considered the gold standard for bond quality, ethically sourced hair, and color integrity.
K-tip is our most recommended method for clients with fine to medium hair who want the most natural-looking result. The individual bonds are small, allow the hair to fall freely, and are virtually undetectable when placed properly.
What to know about K-tip:
K-tip is particularly popular with clients who want a result that looks and moves like their natural hair, with full freedom to use heat tools as normal.
I-tip extensions, also called micro-bead or micro-ring extensions, use a small metal ring or bead to clamp the extension strand to a section of your natural hair. No heat, no adhesive.
Because there is no heat at the attachment point, I-tip is often preferred by clients focused on minimizing thermal stress at the bond site. The beads can also be moved up as your hair grows, making maintenance appointments more of a repositioning than a full reinstall.
What to know about I-tip:
One note for Sarasota clients: I-tip beads can be sensitive to salt water over time. We advise wearing hair up in the ocean and rinsing immediately after. With the right care, I-tip holds up well in Florida’s environment.
The sew-in push-up method uses a braided base created from your natural hair, and extension wefts are sewn directly into those braids. No bonds, no beads, no heat at the attachment point.
This method works best for clients with medium to thick hair who want significant volume and length. The braided base provides a stable foundation that holds weft extensions securely. It is also the most budget-friendly install option we offer at $50 for the push-up service.
What to know about sew-in push-up:
For clients who want to test extensions before committing to a full bond install, sew-in can also be a useful entry point.

Neither K-tip nor I-tip pricing is listed as a flat rate because the cost depends on how many strands you need, your hair’s current condition, and the result you want. This is intentional. We do not quote extensions without seeing the hair first.
At your consultation, we assess your natural density, discuss your goals, and walk you through which method makes the most sense for your texture, lifestyle, and budget. We also have an honest conversation about maintenance, because the best extensions in the world underperform if the upkeep does not fit your life.
